Form Twos Only - Dying Fabric
Now that you all have seen through the demonstration lesson and read about how to prepare the dye bath and the actually dying process, I hope you will find the process of colouring a piece of cloth plain or in a pattern an easy exercise. It can be quite addictive as well I warn you.
Please share your experiences of this process and the results on the COMMENTS below. Remember to write your name and Form CLass in the Heading Box.

My name is Nirvan Dalphus and I am in form 2.v of the Vishnu Boys Hindu College.I learnt a lot from the stencil printing technique.I love it and i now want to buy my own paints and create jerseys for a hobby. It is lots of fun and it is really intersting.I personally think that is is the best out of all the textile techniques that I have learnt. It is really a wounderful thing to learn.I did not like art until I started doing stencil prints and now I love art.I am looking foward to learning even more fun techniques next term.

ReplyDeleteit started of as just simply dying a piece of cotton cloth. Our teacher changed it all,he teached me to tranform a piece of cloth witch was worth about $10.00 into a piece of work of art witch was worth about $100.00 now.i did my end of term examinations today and i did really well mr dillip is the best artist in the world for me.He is my insipration to excel in my art work .He can turn something that was worth nothing into a thousand dollar art piece. He gave us a project on cotton.i tought it would be boring at first but i was wrong.i now understand a lot of things about cotton that i never new before.he gave us a lot of different ways to design patterns on fabric such as stencil, applique, trapunto and tye dye.

ReplyDeleteThis term I have learnt how to dye fabric. It is easy, fun and addictive. Dying fabric comes out in two patterns which is plain and spiral. Spiral is magnificent and I prefer to do this one. After dying fabric you can do patterns such as stencil print or applique. Stencil print is were you cut out a stencil on transparency sheet and stick it on the fabric with printing ink. Applique is basically sticking fabric on fabric. I love applique because you get a beautiful outcome but it all depends on the fabric you use of course. Before I thought that art was only seen on paper but now I have come to realize that it is also seen on fabric too. Well it's the end of the term and the vacation is near, and during the holidays I really think that I will be doing some dying of fabric. I love to dye fabric!

ReplyDeleteThis term I have learned how to dye an tie dye cloth and fabric. Dying is different from tie dying cloth. Dying is turning a white cloth into a different color cloth with the use of a dye bath. tie dying is pattern dying. In order to prepare a dye bath use must have 2 liters of water, 500 ml of vinegar, a handful of salt and preferably wiki wiki dye. First you boil the water, then you add the dye, vinegar and salt. the purpose of vinegar and salt is to get a rich tone of color from the dye. After the dye is done and the cloth is dry you can begin to do patterns such as stenciling, applique and trapunto. each one of this is very interesting. I really enjoyed doing art.

ReplyDeleteThe process of dyeing I thought to be quite fun and enjoyable.I learned that it can be used to create a great birthday present, a special something that you made to wear or just a good looking decoration from around the house. The dying process that really spoke to me was dying the spiral on fabric in two different colours. I made a jersey using this technique as a present for my mother, and she loved it. Now she uses it every time she goes out and tells people that her son made it for her. I think this why I developed a love for dyeing fabric
I have benefited from this topic Glass Painting by learning how to draw, sketch and plan out different artwork using glass paint.this topic benefited me because it was a new concept to me,I was able to draw and design various portraits. I learned how to mix and match colours using glass paints.Glass painting was one of the topics I was most interested in because I know for the future it can be potential for me. Also my standard of art has improved. It was a joyful journey for me this term with glass painting because of future endeavours I may pursue .I can also teach my younger siblings what I learnt with glass painting, and this memorable topic is a journey I will never forget throughout my Form 2 semesters.
