An example of a Functional and Decorative Wall hanging Key Holder
In class, we looked at examples of decorative wall hangings and we spoke about the various materials which can be used to help embellish your designs and we also looked at some tools often used in decorative art.
You were all given the task to source an old piece of cardboard (from your old sketch pad or note book) and use it as the base for a decorative wall hanging reflecting the East Indian Culture as we celebrate 169 years East Indian Arrival or another of some flora or fauna. I am very impressed at the level of craftsmanship, the various designs and the originality of your work. Keep it up!!

The most interesting part in wall hangings for me was the decorating of the plaque. I wondered where and how the patterns may look and had to many ideas in my mind. I discovered that a simple piece of cardboard could be transferred to a beautiful wall appliance. I can use in celebrations by recycling it and for fun, by simply hanging it in patterns and order. This was something new to me which was much not difficult but now I'm professional at it.
ReplyDeleteDecorative wall hanging is created by applying a sheet of kite paper or crepe on a cardboard, you would also need a pair of scissors for cut the kite paper or crepe according to the shape of the cardboard and you can also use beams or gems to create a lovely pattern on the board. I was surprised at first when change just an ordinary piece of cardboard to a beautiful wall hanging. This lesson that we did this term was pretty hard to me because I didn't had an idea to begin with on what pattern I should do but when I came to class and Sir gave me a few pointers I had a wonderful idea. The next day when I came to class to present my wall hanging Sir complemented on my wall hanging on how wonderful it was but it was pretty small so that means I just have to keep on practising.
ReplyDeleteBefore I answer the questions, I would like to make my personal reflection. I think that transforming a piece of cardboard into a decorative piece was wonderful. It is wonderful because it can also help people in remembering to recycle. It helps people recycle because if you think about it that same piece of old cardboard which was to be thrown away is now beautifying your house. I think that the end result of my work was a good attempt. When I was also examining it I saw some faults but the next time I do it I will try to correct those faults. The most interesting thing in this lesson was taking rhinestones and sticking it in different patterns.
ReplyDeleteI think that the decorative wall hanging is a very good learning experience and I enjoyed mostly decorating it and putting my beads together. I discovered that an old piece of cardboard is easy to recycle in many ways and decorative wall hanging is one of them and the cardboard can be wonderfully restored. I can see that in my future I can teach my children this and I can decorate my home .
ReplyDeleteThe most interesting thing during the lesson was that how we can transform a piece of card board into a work of art. I discovered that making designs was very easy and it was cool because there are about a million different patterns. I can use this art form for prays , parties and weddings. When I was creating my wall hanging I used so many patterns and different beads and when I did this I embellished my work . At the end I had created my wok of art and I was proud of it.

As I was decorating the piece I discovered that the hanger had to be placed first and evenly so that the piece would hang evenly. I can see myself using this art form in the future. Creating different designs and pieces would make great gifts for my family.

I discovered that the piece is your own work of art and it is what you dream to make of it.you can use this art form to make a little extra cash if you need to but you also make some to decorate your home how you please.
ReplyDeleteDuring the lesson it was a bit strange because I was it was my time doing a wall-hanging. I never knew that just a piece of cardboard can be turned into a wonderful work of art. At first I was a bit nervous because it was my first time doing a wall-hanging but after a few times sir explained it to me I was ready to do it on my own. The most interesting lesson was when we had to apply the materials on the fabric. I realized that I can now apply it to any special occasion.

ReplyDeleteI find transforming a piece of cardboard and turning it into a work of art is something that many people should do because it is similar to recycling . Transforming card board into a decorative piece also saves on cost and helps build patience. I think my end result was good, it could of being better , but it was my first attempt.(This is my personal reflection).The most interesting thing is that seeing how when you add cloth , rhinestones , paper and beads you have created a bueatiful piece that can be hang anywhere.I notice that you will have to prepare to spend time to do this art form , you should try to be creative and patient

By this I have learned many things like this art is used for weddings, prayers or any occasions it also gave me a learning experience of how to decorate and blend in the colors but when I did mine it came out beautiful.

I also learnt that you can use a wall hanging in various places like: temples, churches,homes and even at weddings ''Depending on your religion''. ReplyDeletei think the wall hangings have been the best out of all the three Indian arts and it certainly the most creative and beautiful one what makes it the best is that with it you can make some of the beautiful designs and you can even make some designs that are of the ordinary like the blue wall hanging that I made, if you look carefully you can see on the perimeter there are the horoscopes but i also like the one with the yin and yang on it is really out of the ordinary but even though it is different it still has rind stones on it to show it is Indian, it is like a mixture of Chinese and Indian.

ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite topic out of all that I have done so far when i was introduced to this topic I knew that it was going to be fun.This is a very useful skill because you can use a wall hanging for almost any occasion a wedding something religious ect. I made a beautiful vase with flowers in it and I must say I could have been more proud of my work.
Wall hangings are so creative and amazing to do, my favorite thing about wall hanging is the beauty of all the colors, shapes and designs. When is tarted this art form i learnt that it takes time and patience to do such a creative design, i had endless ideas for my wall hanging, but only one i could pick. My mind was blown when I saw all those amazing pieces that children had made. With the knowledge that i have gained from this i will explore new ways how to make different wall hangings. I will make some to put in temples and decorate my home.

This form of art can be used in weddings, prays etc. At first i taught that it was a good material they used under all the decorations but its a normal piece of cardboard.

ReplyDeleteI think wall hangings are very cool also when we were introduced to the topic wall hangings I thought it was going to be very hard but I realised it was very easy after a couple of tries I finally got the perfect wall hanging.Wall hangings show their magnificent beauty because when you make mistakes you learn from the mistakes so that you will not make them again so you can keep trying. Wall hangings are just a matter of using the materials you have to create different and unique patters.
Wall hangings are my overall favorite out of all the Indian art forms we learnt.The most interesting part of making a wall hanging is to decorate it.At first I thought that this was going to be a boring topic but after I tried to make one,i changed my mind.I also didn't that we could create a work of art out of a piece of cardboard.I really enjoyed this topic.
ReplyDeleteThe lesson of wall hangings I found was the best of all the lessons. This art was not as easy as it looks, it takes lots of time and effort but the end result is very beautiful. I especially like this art because after doing it I was complimented by my tescher on how good I did it. Wall hangings for me is a new but interesting topic. I never really thought of doing a home made wall hanging, I always thought that the best option of obtaining one was to buy one, now I know otherwise. Wall hangings are simple decorations that can be used to decorate or enhance a room. Wall hangings can vary in terms of shapes, sizes and decorations. This is a very creative art form that you can use to greatly enhance a dull space.

ReplyDeleteI think that wall hanging is interesting even though it is a simple art work. You don't need to spend a lot of money to make a wonderful wall hanging. You can use normal materials that you can find around the house and made something beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think wall hangings was the most fun art form out of all we learnt for the term.It really lets you express your creativity and imagination and then turn it into a reality.All you need is a piece of cardboard,fabric beads,mirrors etc.This process takes a little time but in the end it is worth it because you end up with a beautiful piece of art.I look forward to continue to develop this skill especially.

I did not like to doing wall hanging because it takes a lot of time to stick everything but after it is worth it. ReplyDeleteWhat did I discover? During this lesson of wall hanging, the things that I discover was that art is mostly about recycling. For example a piece cardboard, a person might think it is a useless material while that material could have been use for base of the amazing art form known as wallhanging.
By looking at a wallhanging it 'spells' the word celebration ,and with it beautiful look it can fit into a wedding.
