The Role of Art at Divali Celebrations 2010, at VBHC

This year's Divali 2010 celebrations at Vishnu Boys Hindu College saw quite a difference when compared to previous years.

Please share your views as to what you think may have accounted for this huge difference and the impact Art had to play in it.

I do trust and hope that you see now that presentation of any sort involves ART. if you want to make a Visual impact, help create the setting and mood.....ART does has its role.

  3. Vikash Brijmohan 3.v When I first came to school and I saw how you transformed that piece of cloth into a work of art, I was astonished. The decoration and the saris were nicely done as well. The job you guys did for saywa, I know was greatly appreciated by the homes you visited. All of these had at least one or two aspects or roles of art in them. The difference that art has made this Divali is that you manipulated art to express emotions and the theme of this Divali.

  5. Hi Mr. Dilip Maharaj my name is Nicholas Laltoo and I am in form 2:v this picture is a scene that shows a part of the field in Vishnu Boys Hindu College , that is close to the river.I like how you show the cloud an the mist in the mountains, miles away and how you mix the vibrant colours : the trees and the grass. The field looks natural and the scene is very calm and quiet. You can see the coconut trees moving further and further. This scene reminds me of autumn colours with the orange.

The transformation of the school was indeed surprising and woefuller, especial the use of fabrics. To me what stood out the most was the art work in the hall which I believed was acrylics on cotton. This piece gave the impression that you could have walked into the fores, especial being placed in front of the walkway to the cafe. The streamers hung around the school and the colors of the fabric kept within the theme of a celebration. The setting was much better compared to the past years however I missed the large drawing of the female deity (Lakshmi I believe).
